CBG Oil

Unlock the Power of Cannabigerol (CBG) with KHC

E komo mai!
At Kaua’i Hemp Company, we recognize the importance of education about hemp and cannabis. So come along and learn with us as we discuss a unique cannabinoid: Cannabigerol aka CBG!

CBG is one of over 100 naturally occurring cannabinoids found in cannabis. Commonly referred to as “the mother of all cannabinoids” because other cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD, are derived from cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), the acidic form of CBG. During the degradation or decarboxylation process, a majority of the CBGA compound converts to either THCA or CBDA, which will then convert or become THC or CBD, leaving behind a small residual amount of CBG. Decarboxylation is the process in which a compound, in this case, a cannabinoid, is exposed to heat above 110 ℃ ( or 230 ℉) or UV light causing that compound to turn from its acidic form to a non-acidic form. This exposure to sunlight or heat breaks the carboxylic acid chain, leaving behind the non-acidic form, i.e. the active form, of the cannabinoid, in our case CBG. In most strains of cannabis, CBG is found in relatively small amounts. As the cannabis plant matures, the cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) compounds turn into CBD and THC, leaving behind only about 1% CBG. However, there are now specific strains of hemp that are cultivated to possess a higher concentration of CBG.

Although CBG has not been studied as widely as other cannabinoids, CBG has steadily been gaining in popularity and demand. Similar to CBD, CBG is not a psychoactive cannabinoid–these cannabinoids don’t produce a “high” effect like THC.
Even though they are similar compounds, CBG and CBD have different and distinguishable molecular structures. This difference in their molecular structures affects the forces that are responsible for the bonding mechanisms between these molecules to certain receptors in the endocannabinoid system. CBG, like THC, binds to CB1 and CB2 receptors in our endocannabinoid system. CBD, on the other hand, interacts indirectly with the other receptors, like TRPV1, in the endocannabinoid system. As a result, you may experience slightly different effects in the body when taking or applying CBG oil than with CBD oil. In simplified terms, the effects of CBG binding to a different set of receptors in our endocannabinoid system can produce different responses than CBD. Hemp products that contain CBD, and CBG, alongside other cannabinoids are known to create more of an entourage effect in the body. In other words, these compounds are working with one another to promote more varied or enhanced effects in the body.
At Kauai Hemp Company, we recognize the growing importance and demand for CBG-based products. This is why we’ve chosen to grow strains of hemp that are dominant in CBG and CBD. From those strains, we’ve created several truly exceptional CBG-based products that are unrivaled in purity.
Applied topically or taken orally, CBG is a great addition to boost your wellness routine and promote a sense of calmness and relaxation that may help reduce distractions**.
